Introducing NaSTA to Promax UK
We’ve been teasing you on our facebook page & over twitter with details of a student competition, offering such prizes as £1000 to the winner (£500 to the runner up) and a choice of work experience with the likes of Red Bee Media, Turner and Disney to name but 3. You said to us it was too good to be true.
Well, say hello to Promax UK.
Promax UK was set up in 1989 to help On-Air Promotion-makers develop their skills and reward their achievements. The annual conference and awards was inspired by the successful annual Promax event in the US. PromaxUK has grown in status in line with the resources devoted by broadcasters to the promotion and marketing of TV in the UK.
Since 1990, the shape of the organisation has changed, with an increasing worldwide network of members, supporters, patrons and friends.
Through their efforts Promax UK have furthered the aims of promotion and marketing through their annual Awards Ceremony and Seminar (November 2011) by providing a focus for the creative efforts of on-screen promotion and marketing practitioners alike.
Every year Promax UK run a Student Awards Competition. It’s free to enter and aims to encourage students to think about how they apply their creativity. The competition is open to any student with creative ideas, whatever their discipline.
Kerry Spring Rice, one of the organisers of the Promax UK Student Awards & Promax UK Executive Board Committee Member explains:
Today’s Creatives need to have an awareness of everything from typography and graphic design to moving image and animation, film and video direction, web capability, editing, music and scriptwriting. The Promax Student brief is an opportunity to use all those skills for a real client – this year it’s TAG (Transforming a Generation). The judges are looking for concepts and ideas that are applicable across the range of disciplines, looking for originality, relevance to the brief and presentation.
There is no charge for entry. The competition is primarily aimed at 2nd year undergraduate students but any student (whatever level of study) can apply, with the exception of postgraduates.
