Nottingham 2019

Meet your hosts – NSTV

Introducing NSTV

NSTV is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, a huge milestone for our station and to finish this celebration by hosting the 2019 Awards and Conference would be an amazing opportunity.

Nottingham is an amazing student city and very central with good transport links, making it ideal for stations from all across the country to travel to. The University of Nottingham Campus is located just a short distance from the City Centre and is 300 acres of green spaces and stunning architecture!

They’re close! Nottingham Student Television (NSTV) have been working hard to develop a fantastic submissions system and we are all ready for the launch of submissions on Wednesday 13th February.

As listed in the image above, the awards are scattered over seven days. The deadline for submission is 18:00pm GMT.
Please ensure you upload your entries in PLENTY of time to ensure you are not late for this deadline.

Important Information

The audio bit-rate has been raised to 256kpbs. This maximum rate is optional. All entries with an audio bit-rate of 192kpbs or 256kpbs will be accepted. If you have already submitted your entry at 192kpbs and wish to resubmit at 256kps, you are free to do so. Please create a new account on NSTV’s submission form and re-submit ONLY THE VIDEOS YOU WANT TO SUBMIT IN HIGHER AUDIO BITRATE. If you do not wish to resubmit, you don’t have to do anything. PLEASE NOTE: Resubmitting an entry will void your previous submission. Only your new upload will be considered for judging. You MUST upload your re-submission before 18:00 on the day of the submitted category. If you upload a re-submission AFTER the deadline, you are at risk of voiding your previous entry and disqualifying your re-submission. Because of this, it is crucial all audio bit rate re-submissions are made PRIOR to the category deadline.

About NSTV

NSTV, the University of Nottingham’s multi-award winning student TV station, is your host this year.

They broadcast their four channels – Culture, Sports, Entertainment and News and Features – from their brand-new, state-of-the-art studio in UoN’s Students’ Union, where great TV is made by students, for students.

Q. When should I buy tickets by?
A. As soon as possible (when they’re gone, they’re gone)

Q. Is there a submissions guide?
A. Yes – the guide can be found HERE

Q. When is the submissions deadline?
A. The submissions close at 6PM on its listed day. For example, Best Live closes at 6PM on Monday 18th February and Best Comedy closes at 6PM on Thursday 14th February.
Q. What content are we allowed to submit for the awards?
A. The submissions deadline last year was 12th-16th February, so anything released after the 16th at 6pm is 100% fine for submissions this year

Q. Can we sort our own accommodation?
A. You can, but if you book the official accommodation, you will be only a 3 minute walk from the conference, will get a cooked breakfast every morning and you save yourself the hassle of travelling to the right part of campus (it’s massive).

Q. What if things go wrong?
A. We’ve all been there. Premiere crashes, submission forms fail, wrong versions are exported. If anything goes wrong, you need to immediately inform both the Host Station and the NaSTA Committee. Your lovely Host Officer, Joe Mcgeehan, and the NaSTA exec team are your 24/7 emergency contacts. We’ll work with you to ensure everything can be sorted in the best way possible.

Joe’s Email: [email protected]
NaSTA: [email protected]

Approaching submissions week, we’ll also provide other ways of contacting us. Because as we all know, email is inherently not an emergency communication system.

Q. What does NSTV have planned for the conference?
A. Ben, your chair and Communications Officer, went to visit NSTV to see how prep was going.

Not going to spoil too much, but you guys should be getting hype because this year’s conference is going to be EPIC!
